Leica Digilux Zoom

A compact digital point-and-shoot camera, among the first in Leica’s early digital lineup.

Overview

The Leica Digilux Zoom is a digital compact camera produced by Leica, as part of the brand’s initial foray into digital photography. Marketed as an ideal camera for digital photography in its most compact form, it follows a point-and-shoot design with an emphasis on portability. It was one of the first models in the Digilux series, alongside the original Digilux (1998) and the Digilux 4.3 (2000). The camera features a 3x optical zoom lens and is built around a 1/2-inch CCD sensor with 2.1 megapixels, offering 1 megapixel effective resolution. Though small in size and specification by modern standards, it represents Leica’s early commitment to accessible digital imaging.
