Agfa Superior (early 1930s)

A metal-bodied folding camera for 8x14 cm exposures on 122 film, made by Agfa in the early 1930s.

Overview

The Agfa Superior is a metal-bodied folding camera produced in the early 1930s by Agfa. It was designed for 8x14 cm (3¼x5½ inch) 'postcard' format images using Agfa G6 size film, which corresponds to 122 film. The camera features a brilliant finder mounted centrally above the lens and a wire-frame finder for composition. Focusing is achieved via a radial lever on the right side of the bed, adjustable down to approximately 1.5 metres. Two lens options were available: an f/6.3 Trilinear triplet or an f/4.5 Solinar lens. A "Luxus" finish variant existed with red-brown leather and bellows, pairing the improved Solinear f/4.8 lens.
