Design
The TC-K7 uses an F&F (Ferrite & Ferrite) head directly coupled to the preamplifier for improved audio performance. It employs two motors: a frequency-controlled servo motor for the capstan and a high-torque motor for fast forward and rewind. The deck features logic-controlled feather-touch operation, a soft-eject mechanism with an air damper, and a 3-step tape selector with independent equalizer and bias settings. Additional features include Dolby NR, MPX filter, memory stop/play, Rec Mute, Sony Limiter recording, auto shut-off, front-panel stereo line-in, independent line-out and headphone level controls, and compatibility with an external timer for unattended recording. A large VU meter and peak level indicator are included, and the unit supports remote operation via the optional RM-30 wired controller.
