Design
The SP-300 uses a 30 cm cone-type woofer with a slightly thick, hard paper cone and a cross-roll surround, its magnetic circuit employing eight magnets to achieve a flux density of 13,600 gauss. The horn-type midrange driver features a hard duralumin diaphragm and a full-scale screwdriver unit with eight magnets. Two square horn-type units are used for high-frequency reproduction. The crossover network uses specially designed 12dB/octave coils based on Sansui’s transformer technology. Level controls allow adjustment of the mid and high bands via 3-point tap-type selectors, and internal sound-absorbing material reduces unwanted resonance.
Market
Used pairs of Sansui SP-300 speakers have sold for $374.95, with one buyer reporting a garage sale purchase for $30. A common maintenance issue is degraded woofer surrounds, which users report significantly improves sound quality when replaced.
