Sansui QS-10
A 4-channel rear amplifier using Sansui’s proprietary QS matrix decoding, designed to expand stereo sources into quadraphonic sound with adjustable speaker configuration.
Overview
The Sansui QS-10 is a 4-channel rear amplifier developed to work with Sansui's QS (Quadraphonic Synthesizer) matrix system, enabling playback of quadraphonic sound from standard stereo sources. Built by Sansui Electric Co., Ltd., it functions as a rear channel processor and amplifier, pairing with a main stereo amplifier to complete a 4-speaker setup. The unit features a dedicated synthesizer/decoder section using a custom-developed IC and supports two rear speaker arrangements—2-2 system and front 2-2 system—via a function switch.

Design
The QS-10 integrates a Sansui QS synthesizer/decoder section with a rear main amplifier, using a pure electronic circuit system centered on an IC originally developed by Sansui. Front and rear volume levels are adjusted via slide-type controls, and a function switch selects between speaker configurations to match source material and recording method. The stereo main amplifier uses silicon transistors, ensuring stable amplification for the rear channels.
