JBL 4425 (1985–1998)

A constant directivity studio monitor using a Bi-Radial horn, designed for professional audio environments.

Overview

The JBL 4425 is a 2-way, bass reflex speaker system built as a studio monitor with constant directivity characteristics. Manufactured by JBL, it was first released in 1985 and remained in production until around 1998, when the MKII version appeared. Marketed as a "Bi-Radial Studio Monitor," it was engineered for accurate sound reproduction in professional settings. The system uses a bookshelf form factor but is designed for serious monitoring applications, not casual listening. A brochure dated 1993 confirms its presence in JBL’s lineup well into the 1990s. The 4425 was succeeded by the 4425 MKII, which carried a price of ¥195,000 around 1998.
